It's fig.
As to the taste, basically it's sweet. But it depends, peopole who likes them likes.
With figs showing in the pic, you can first peel them before having a test.

I believe Midi is correct. I've found a few pages that discuss the taste of figs: 1 2 and the very scientificly meaningless 3.
But... someone in Japan told me that they taste like blood. Can anyone vouch for that?
PS Midi: it's strange that google made the blogger beta so separate.. don't you think so?
